Below is a list of our active partner organizations who are involved in The Center’s most recent or long-term projects. Click on any of the links to find out more about each group, their mission, what they do for Indiana, and more.
Health Care for All–Indiana County Chapter: educates the public and government officials regarding the scope and seriousness of the health care crisis, and supports and encourages legislation that achieves comprehensive and fair health care coverage for everyone in Pennsylvania.
Indiana Cares Campaign: brings about greater awareness and understanding of sexualities in our community, supports people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender as well as their families and friends, and draws on the best of Indiana County to become a leader in Western Pennsylvania in ending homophobia.
Indiana County Democratic Committee: working for progressive change and supporting Democratic candidates, nationally, statewide, and locally in Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
NAACP–Indiana County: engaged in improving the political, educational, social and economic status of minority groups, eliminating racial prejudices; keeping the public aware of the adverse effects of racial discrimination; and taking all lawful actions to eliminate such discrimination.
PFLAG of Indiana, PA: celebrates diversity, works actively in support of social justice, and opposes all forms of bigotry — especially homophobia and heterosexism.
The Coalition for a Healthy County: engaging in a campaign to maintain the integrity of conservation zones surrounding several natural areas in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Our coalition is asking the Indiana County Commissioners to protect these areas from the dangers of hydraulic fracturing of the Marcellus Shale.
The Indiana Theater: provides in house production for live music, cinema, and video gaming. The Indiana Theater also hosts our film series, as well as many other quality documentaries and film festivals.
The Sierra Club–Allegheny Chapter: advances such issues as air quality, clean water, endangered species, oil and gas, public lands, recycling and political education.
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Student Organizations
Commission on GLBT Concerns: improves the climate for diversity within IUP and specifically addresses issues affecting the welfare of lesbian, gay, and bisexual, and transgender members of the university community.
IUP Environmentally Conscious Organization (E.C.O.): increases campus and community awareness of environmental problems and encourages active involvement to solve these problems.
Statewide and National Organizations
The Alliance for a Just Society: executes regional and national campaigns and builds strong state affiliated organizations and partnerships that address economic, racial, and social inequities.
PennFuture: conducts strategic campaigns for policy change and law enforcement to create a just future where nature, communities, and the economy thrive.
