Center Space/Food Co-Op Action Network

The Center is currently making plans to open a progressive, mixed-use/food co-op in downtown Indiana! We aim to have this space open and running by the end of January 2017 and to remain operating for a minimum of two years. To cover the first year of operating expenses, the Center will conduct a capital campaign.

The possibilities are endless! Imagine all the uses:

  • Food Co-Op/weekday farmers’ market
  • “Green” store – get your environmentally sustainable products
  • Progressive store – shirts, buttons, prints, etc.
  • Meeting space
  • Office space
    • For third party organizations/non-profits/campus groups
    • For Center staff (e.g., IUP service learning students)
  • Coffees hop / gathering space
  • Locally-made products, arts, and crafts
  • Clearinghouse for progressive causes

Illustrative Finances – draft

$1,500/month for rent and utilities

  • 1/3 merchandise sales
  • 1/3 of building rental/use fees
  • 1/3 subsidized by The Center
(e.g., monthly dinners with speakers, etc.)
